- Research
Tablets are able to access the internet which makes for an excellent tool. There is a massive knowledge source right at the students fingertips. By using tablets for research, children will be able to learn how to find credible scholarly sources for information.
2. Educational Applications and Games
There are currently 200,000 educational apps and games in the Apple Application Store. Children will be able to supplement their learning with fun math, reading, and language games or apps. They will be able to have friendly competitions with their friends or play alone through the apps.
3. Quizzes
Educators will be able to evaluate the student’s knowledge on a subject by posting quizzes. The student will be able to receive instant results of his/her understanding of the material.
4. Instructional Videos
Tablets make it easy to find videos that will explain a subject a student is struggling with. For example, there are many educational videos that will explain math problems and science concepts for the more visual learners.
5. Presentations
Instead of children having to carry poster board to school, students can create presentations and projects right from the tablets. This can then be shared to the class using a projector, which would give kids great experience with public speaking and presentation skills.
6. Reading Books
In the free reading time, children will not have to waste time going down to the library. Books can be stored in the digital library on the tablet, and when they are finished, they can pick a new one out immediately from the device.
7. Virtual Field Trips
Field trips can be very costly, and educators will not be able to take students to every destination they cover in class. However, with the tablets, students will be able to go on field trips anywhere around the world and see what they learned during class. Certain websites even have a 360 degree view of locations. Discovery Education even has no-cost Virtual Field Trips that come with a companion guide that follows educational standards and hands on learning activities. The field trips can be watched live or on-demand which makes it easy for parents and teachers to plan a lesson (Discovery).
